Bob successfully overcame ADD/ADHD to achieve not only a degree in Dentistry, but also a specialty certificate in Periodontics. With the help of the caring team at Northwestern Medicine, Dr. Pick also conquered a rare form of Cancer of the Appendix. The experimental treatment he received at Northwestern Medicine saved his life and also left him with significant hearing loss and an impediment to his ability to walk. None of this stopped him from creating and maintaining a successful periodontal practice, treating countless thousands of patients, becoming an international expert and speaker on lasers, business, superlative patient care, and inspiring dentists to create truly patient centered practices with “ethics and excellence first”.
This amazing human being, who was given six months to live after his diagnosis decades earlier, walked this world with unassuming dignity and humility and made an impact on the world which few others have. He carried a boyish enthusiasm for life and a love for anyone he would encounter.
One of Bob’s lifelong hopes was to see the day we conquer cancer.
